Attorney Derek Reed Giving a Seminar on the new Fair Chance in Housing Law in New Jersey

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Derek Reed, a name partner of the firm, is presenting a virtual seminar on the new Fair Chance in Housing Law in New Jersey, which modifies how housing providers must review and consider an applicant’s criminal background history. The upcoming seminar is an opportunity for New Jersey landlords to learn about the law and prepare for the upcoming changes.

The seminar is presented by the New Jersey Apartment Association (NJAA). To attend, you must preregister online. For added value, each class is worth 1 CEC (Continuing Education Credit) to NAA Credential Holders.

The seminar will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. This new law is intended to allow persons with a criminal background history more housing opportunities. Under the new law, crimes are tiered by severity, and landlords must follow a very strict procedure in evaluating the criminal background history of an applicant.

The cost for this seminar is $69 for NJAA members and $99 for non-members. You can register online here.
